The weather in Sydney’s been so nice lately that it’s hard to fight the urge to go outside and explore.
On one of our walks we came across this bunch of blooms so we took some cuttings and brought them back in to brighten up the studio. Such a lovely looking representation of the end of Summer.

Vivid Live
The Vivid Live Festival in Sydney has announced it’s line-up today and it has everyone talking, even the promotional images are stunning, as featured in this video.
The festival of light, held at the Sydney Opera House, features a Secret Squirrel favourite, Karen O in Stop The Virgens – a creative project produced and featuring some of the indie film & music scene’s biggest talents. Described as a ‘Psycho Opera’ Stop The Virgens is sure to be everything we have come to know and love from Karen O.
Another major of the festival, Lighting of the Sails, is to be created by German light artists, Urbanscreen who will turn the city into a lurid light spectacular. We can’t wait to see what they project onto ‘the House’ but in the mean time we’re happy to look at this. aah…

If you’re a fan of director Wes Anderson or a film buff in general, you must see this trailer for his new film Moonrise Kingdom. We’re already lining up for popcorn!

five things: that we fancy
1. Something in the vase:
It’s a little treat here in the studio but we always enjoy having a vase with something gorgeous in it!
2. Letters of Note:
We’ve spent hours trawling through these letters! Of note is a particularly sweet letter from a favourite author of ours, John Steinbeck. His beautiful letter of advice to his love bitten son can be enjoyed in full here. Below is a letter John wrote to his publisher which is found as a dedication in the front of our favourite ‘East of Eden’.
3. Sleep:
Not much needs to be said about this but at this time in the season it’s always something we’re lacking!
4. Fleetwood Mac:
In any list of lists Fleetwood Mac would have to appear, one of our faves without fail!
5. Objects of Use:
We’re a practical sort here at SS so when we discovered this shop we were pretty smitten. So simply and beautifully photographed and you just know they are made to last.
