yumm!

Check out my new cushion from the amazing talent that is Beci Orpin. I have been dreaming about having one of these for ages and FINALLY my wish has been granted. Not only is it totally gorgeous in a craft-is-cool kind of way, it is also the perfect size and thickness for resting my head on while lying on the couch after a long day.

Dirty Three & Grizzly Bear goodness

Here are a couple of Sydney Festival highlights. Warren E and his merry men have been one of the most important bands to come out of these shores for many years, we love ‘em and can’t wait… see you there!

Going over to the Dark Side

I’ve always been a good girl but suddenly the dark side has taken an appealing turn in the form of Dr Horrible. Dr Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog is the brainchild of Joss Whedon and stars Neil Patrick Harris (How I met your Mother), Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Serenity) and Felicia Day (Buffy, The Guild). The blog follows Dr Horrible’s application to join the Evil League of Evil, headed by the thoroughbred of sin, Black Horse. Between enacting evil deeds to impress the League and battling his nemesis Captain Hammer we also see the softer side of our evil protagonist with his heartfelt love songs about Penny, the girl at the laundromat. Armed with a freeze ray, a cool evil genius outfit and a never ending supply of songs Dr Horrrible is the new favourite man in my life.

Where the Wild Things Are..

I absolutely adored this book when I was little, and was suitably terrified by it at the same time. Can’t wait to see the Spike Jonze movie adaptation which premiered in New York last night.
LOVE Catherine Keener and have a total lady-crush on her, so I’m sure she’ll be awesome in the film. Pedestrian Daily News ran a great little interview with Chris Searle, of Monster Children, who took some crazy cool photos behind the scenes on set of the film. Here are a few of my faves, and the movie preview as well. Only 30 odd more sleeps to go!

I heart NYorker

Look at this pretty card, purchased the other day. Love the mix of colours and the crayony effect of the print, it’s a bit 70′s craft movement…? whatever, I like it.

Lula

Just bought the latest issue of Lula magazine, guest edited by Karen Elson. Its full of glorious redheads and, as usual, beautiful, interesting clothes- so lovely. There are girls with flowers in their hair looking amazing, further disproving my theory that flowers in hair mostly=yuk.

I finally went to see The September Issue and was excited to see an article about the amazingness that is Grace Coddington in the pages of this latest Lula. I think I will say tools down for the rest of this rainy day and curl up in bed to read instead- yay!
